Big Oaths

Gaberlunzie has been following the computer industry for close on half a century and the news that Oath is to emerge from the combination of My Space, AOL and Yahoo, had him scurrying over to see what the Pink Paper has to say on the subject.

Before Yahoo was founded in 1994, the internet was nothing more than “a government research project,” said its chief executive, Marissa Mayer, on Monday. But, over the next two decades, the company’s “humanising” influence would help turn it into a suite of products that few can now live without: the web, search engines, email and a seemingly unlimited choice of content. Yahoo had, quite simply, “transformed the world for the better,” she said reports The Financial Times

However, at CNBC, the headline is that Facebook and Google are predicted to make $106 billion from advertising in 2017, almost half of the world digital ad spend.
