A Highland firm has failed to find new staff as unemployment nears two million. Which either goes to show that the UK workers have lost their mobility, or that HCM's advertising is not correctly targeted. Highland Heating Management has no website and no easily reached email, though it does have area local directory listings, so they have turned to Tartan Silk publicity to help them out. Perhaps Tartan Silk should move into the lucrative job recruitment market.

Highland Catering Management Ltd (HCM) started trading, because of the current credit crunch sweeping across the UK, and in response to a rise in demand for catering equipment repairs, as companies tighten their belts and resist buying new equipment.

But the new business has been halted by that surprise problem – they are unable to find staff!  Despite recent efforts to find CORGI registered engineers, they have so far been unable to attract applicants for the three available engineering posts.  With a healthy salary and benefits package, director Gordon Peters (right) expected to be fighting off applicants.

HCM will maintain, service, repair & sell all types of commercial catering equipment, from small gas ovens to full commercial kitchen installations. Potential clients will be any businesses throughout the Highland & Islands, Morayshire, Aberdeenshire and Perthshire (within reason) that have commercial kitchen equipment i.e. hotels, restaurants, schools, leisure centres, cafes, pubs and clubs.

The company promise a secure permanent job with good working conditions, excellent rates of pay and the potential for career progression with positions available for both a Senior Commercial Catering Engineer and two Commercial Catering Engineers. Potential employees need to be Corgi Gas registered, able to work with Natural & LPG gas and preferably have some experience in working with catering equipment.

Peters is "very surprised that in the current climate we are unable to attract workers to join our new growing business. Benefits include a very competitive salary, company pension and life insurance along with the usual benefits of a van and mobile phone.”

Peters owns Highland Heating Management Ltd, which began trading in 2006 and now employs 13 full time tradesmen. Kyle Mackintosh has a background in accounting and started up his own agricultural consultancy business, Farm Accounts & Records Maintenance (F. A. R. M.), in 2001. Kyle will be responsible for handling the company’s accounts while Gordon will be involved with the day to day running of the business.

Mackintosh (left) comments, “We are looking for employees to be ambitious as they will be involved with a new growing business at the grass roots level with lots of potential for career development. This is an exciting time for us and we urge anyone interested in applying to contact us immediately”
