Silicon on insulator Soitec has acquired nano production systems producer Altatech Semiconductor S.A based at Montbonnot Saint Martin near Grenoble. The final purchase price of €15m was financed partly in cash and partly using Soitec stock, purchased by BNP Paribas Exane on the market under the share buy-back program approved by the shareholders.

This acquisition will ensure Soitec a strategic access to specific equipments necessary to deliver its light emitting diode (LED) strategy as well as to support Soitec’s new Plug&Sun stand-alone mini solar tracker system manufacturing ramp up.

Altatech Semiconductor, created in 2004 with advanced knowledge and experience of high-tech semiconductor production systems, currently develops highly efficient, cost-effective technologies and equipment for new applications in emerging nano markets.

It currently has three product lines to characterise and create precise multi-dimensional conditions on all types of substrates. AltaSight offers complete, high-speed substrate inspection, AltaCVD is a new materials deposition system and AltaDrop an advanced nano particule patterning system.
