"We have moved to the Funnelback Hosted service because Funnelback is best placed to manage the technical aspects of search such as regular software upgrades, hardware and networks. This allows us to concentrate on content and the business aspects of our web presence."
The Care Commission is reported to be using the latest version of Funnelback software with Contextual Navigation enabled. This feature allows sub-topics of interest to be exposed to the user. For example the search for 'services' bring back a number of related subtopics such as 'Rescue Services', 'Children's Services', 'Home Services' and 'Services for Aged Care'."
The three Social Services Council websites using the Funnelback hosted service include: Continous Learning Framework and EWD
and the Scottish Commission for Regulation of Care.
The Funnelback (named after the funnel-web and the red-back spiders of Australia) search engine project evolved from a technology offering developed during an eight year project by Australia's top scientific research agency Commonwealth Scientific & Industrial Research Organisation (CSIRO).
