Ahead of the Great Scottish Run, taking place on Sunday 5 September, customer contact company RESPONSE has already raised more than £1000 for Yorkhill Children’s Foundation in only 4 weeks.

A team of 11 dedicated staff from the Glasgow based customer contact centre will take to Glasgow’s streets to compete in one of Scotland’s largest mass participating events, attracting over 20,000 people of all abilities and ages.

This is the first time that RESPONSE has entered the run, with sevem  of the team completing the half marathon and four in the 10k leg of the event.

Following a recent company-wide vote, RESPONSE  part of Murray International chose Yorkhill Children’s Foundation as its charity partner and have an ambitious target of £20,000 to be raised over the next 12 months. Taking part in the Great Scottish Run is the first of a series of fundraising events and activities to help reach their goal.

The money raised will be put towards in-patient simultaneous EEG/Video telemetry equipment (right) used to help diagnose children with epilepsy, one of the most common serious neurological disorders of childhood.

It will be placed in Yorkhill’s Fraser of Allander Neurosciences Unit and will allow the team there to provide gold standard treatment to children with epilepsy.

Alan Dickie, Business Transformation Director at RESPONSE  (left) who is heading up the team says: “The dedication and hard work which our guys have thrown behind their preparation for the Great Scottish Run is superb. Yorkhill Children’s Foundation is close to the hearts of many in RESPONSE, so there is a real sense that they want to make a real difference for this very worthwhile cause.

“Surpassing our first milestone target of £1000 is a fantastic achievement so early on. I’m sure that we will be able to continue this momentum and generate even more cash so that we can make a real impact for the children and their families at Yorkhill.

"Without support, it would be extremely difficult for charities such as Yorkhill to do their work. I hope that the RESPONSE team’s success in preparing for the Great Scottish Run will inspire others to get behind our chosen charity. We still have some way to go to reach our annual target but we are off to a fantastic start.”

CEO of Yorkhill Children’s Foundation, (right) Shona Cardle adds: “The team in Yorkhill’s Fraser of Allander Unit and everyone at Yorkhill Children’s Foundation is hugely grateful to RESPONSE for choosing to support our charity over the coming year. This new medical equipment will make a significant difference to the hospital and will allow us to diagnose and treat many more children with epilepsy than ever before.”

RESPONSE provides outsourced contact centre services and software solutions to a wide portfolio of blue-chip clients such as Sky, Hiscox and the US Embassy in London. The company founded in Glasgow in 1991 and now employs over 2,200 staff on three sites across the city using the Inisoft brand as used in 17 countries across Europe, the Middle East and North America
