09/11/2011, 18:00

Dundee Science Centre, Infusions Coffee Shop

Parkinson’s disease is a degenerative brain disorder which particularly affects the elderly. Since the disease was first described almost 200 years ago, there is still no cure or any treatment that can slow down the disease.

Over the last decade, ground-breaking genetic discoveries have led to the identification of several genes that cause Parkinson’s. Understanding how these genes cause brain cell loss is likely to lead to new ideas on how to treat the disease – find out more by joining us for this talk from Dr Miratul Muqit, from the University of Dundee.

The talk will be hosted in the regular venue, Infusions Coffee Shop, inside Dundee Science Centre, Sensation. Doors open at 5.30pm when the cafe will be serving drinks and snacks.
