Scottish internet service provider, Internet for Business (IFB) has secured a £60k contract renewal from Aberdeen Exhibition and Conference Centre (AECC). The three year contract extension represents the third renewal for IFB and sees it entering its seventh consecutive year working with the city venue.

IFB will provide managed and comprehensive wireless and wired Internet access across the AECC site, including in areas for staff, visitors, exhibitors and delegates.  The contract also covers the design and support for larger events, as Offshore Europe 2011, where IFB will work with AECC team and event organisers to provide business class services across the venue.

Set to open its a new state-of-the-art Aberdeen data centre soon, IFB is also to undertake a recruitment drive to boost  numbers in both Central belt and the Northeast Scotland offices. This  ties in with the opening of the £10m  high specification data centre which will act as a new HQ as well as housing business continuity suites specifically for IFB clients.

IFB operations director Graeme Gordon says, “It is incredibly satisfying to secure this contract once again with AECC after working with them for such a long period of time.

"We have developed a close and strong relationship with the AECC team and worked with them to modify, adjust and improve the technical and commercial services offered.

Most recently this includes the introduction of branded AECC scratch cards to provide an additional and easy method of accessing the WiFi network for visitors.

“We have also extended our relationship with AECC as the new sponsor of the AECC’s Northern Lights Tower, which will provide our business with prominent positioning and increased brand awareness to local residents and international business and leisure visitors to the city.”

Brian Horsburgh, MD of AECC adds, “We are delighted to welcome IFB as the new sponsor of the Tower. It’s a prominent landmark on Ellon Road and the new branding is very eye-catching. The renewal of this contract cements our on-going relationship with IFB and will assist us in continuing to provide excellent internet access for all who attend conferences and exhibitions at AECC.”
