
Footballer Allan Johnston who in April agreed a new two-year contract with the Scottish Premier League club was the 10,000 person to get a European Computer Driving Licence skill card from Dumfries and Galloway College earlier this year. According to September’s Training and Coaching Today which notes that 7m such skills cards have been issued by the ECDL foundation.
The card holder is recognised as competent in seven core IT skills which include word processing, spreadsheet handling and file management.

"Seven million candidates being registered with the ECDL certification programme shows we set the global benchmark in end-user skills programmes,” says Damien O'Sullivan ECDL Foundation CEO.
The ECDL is available in 146 countries through public and private providers, in both classroom-based and online formats. It enjoys the support of over 50 Computer Societies across the globe including the British Computer Society. The UK alone has 1.5m ECDL card holders.
