Carbon Capture & Storage: Roadmap 2050

07/02/2012

Central London

The requirements for Carbon Capture and Storage (CCS) deployment in the UK following the publication of the Government's 2050 CCS Roadmap.
Planned sessions focus on the continued technical challenges and overall feasibility of post-combustion CCS, and will include discussion on the findings from the Front End Engineering and Design (FEED) studies, which were completed as part of the now discontinued Longannet project. The seminar will also examine how these findings can be used in taking forward the development of CCS.

 Delegates will also explore the objectives and deliverables for further demonstration projects and consider the barriers that the Government and key CCS stakeholders will have to overcome in order to make the technology commercially viable in the UK.

Including keynote presentations from the Department of Energy and Climate Change and Scottish Power, planned sessions focus on:

The Longannet project: the FEED studies and knowledge transfer;
Overcoming the continued practical and technical challenges for CCS growth: paving the way for future demonstrations; Investment in the CCS market and moving towards its commercial deployment in the UK; long-term CCS strategy and implementing the 2050 roadmap.
