BCS Entrepreneurs support UK innovation & IT startups

The BCS Entrepreneurs programme will launch with an event entitled NetStorm. The programme aims to help shape response of the IT profession to the UK's innovation challenge. The first event offers a chance for existing and would-be entrepreneurs to network with an expert group of innovation leaders from local and national government, big business, funders and emerging technology clusters of East London and beyond.


The event will feature a panel debate including the following speakers:

  • Anil Hansjee, Head of Corporate Development, Google EMEA
  • AntonyBrowne, Mayoral Policy Director
  • Mike Butcher, Editor, Techcrunch
  • Elizabeth Varley, Co-founder, TechHub
  •  Andy Mulholland, Global CTO, Cap Gemini
  • James Finn, Head of Innovation, O2

The discussion will look at the Government’s agenda, the corporate view, the entrepreneur’s need, the ecosystem response, and the contribution of the IT profession to entrepreneurship.

David Clarke, MBE, CEO , BCS, the Chartered Institute for IT says: “This new programme aims not only to support those involved in IT start-ups, but also highlight the important contribution made by the IT profession to technology-led innovation and commerce.”

To further support the initiative, the Institute has created the UK Innovation and Entrepreneur Award which has been added to the Institute’s annual UK IT Industry Awards 2011 open for entries this week.
