Swiss-based Odyssey Financial Technologies is to open an office in Glasgow and will start by recruiting 20 software developers reports the Press Association, adding that number could increase to 200 if market developments are "positive."

A quick look at Odyssey  Financial Technologies site shows that PA has beaten the firm's press releases. Its three November ones cover Eurobank EFG Private Bank Luxembourgh choosing Odyssey'sTriple A Plust to support growth of it private banking operations: first users upgrade to Odyssy latest Investment manager platform and Third Rome Case Study: Rome wasn't built in one day.  Neither are jobs for 200 software developers, but 20 does look hopeful.

Livewire behind the company is founder, chairman and CEO Antoine Duchateau who started his career with IBM Belgium. In 1981, he moved to BIS Banking Systems, where he built the Continental Europe distribution operation for the MIDAS wholesale banking system.

Following this, he was promoted to the role of operations / deputy MD, in charge of the company's world-wide distribution network. Seeing an unfilled niche in Investment management , Duchateau left BIS in 1994 to create Odyssey.

Accordingly the software house has some hefty operational partners Accenture (management consulting, technology services and outsourcing) IBM Business Consulting, Ineum consulting specialized in strategy, organisation and information systems, part of the Management Consulting Group PLC, listed at the London Stock Exchange, Raqmiyat system integration and IT services company in the Emirates.

For technology partners consider Actuate, Corda, IBM, Visual Rules, Oracle, Sun,IBM, Fujitsu, Siemens, Sybase. Product partners are Callataÿ&Wouters, Comit, FiNCAD, GL Trade, Incentage, Interactive Data, Numcom, RED12Technologies, RiskMetrics Group and XSP.

Here's hoping it's the start of a Glasgow-based epic.
