Scottish Government selects design agencies

Advertised in February 2009, the overall Scottish Government new £170m Framework agreement has a budget of between £130m - £170m over the possible four-year-period across all six Lots. 
It is understood that 23 suppliers have been appointed to the framework according to the initial advert. 

The framework will be involved in the procurement of design, print, display materials, promotional Items and DVD replication and duplication services throughout Scotland.

The Drum names the design agencies appointed by Scottish Government.
Lot 1 will be handled by print management group APS Group (Edinburgh & Cheshire) for design, print and publishing services. The company has been handed the responsibility for managing end-to-end requirements for design, print and publishing incorporating the needs of the Government.

Lot 2 includes the appointments of Freight  Design (Glasgow), Morton Ward (Edinburgh), Shandwick  Design (Glasgow) Shaw Marketing & Design (Edinburgh & Lerwick), and Teviot  (Edinburgh) to handle assorted design services which will be published through Lot 1. All are members of the Marketing Industry Network.

The requirements include graphic design (for print and on-line eg by web, electronic means) incorporating formatting, proofing and pre-press Services, photography, Illustrations, cartography and mapping services, copywriting and editorial services, graphs and charts, alternative format services (eg Braille, audio, easy-read etc) and brand Management and application and any ad hoc design related service. This has been appointed on a 24 months contract with two additional 12 month extensions possible.

A Scottish Government spokesperson said: ‘We have undertaken a comprehensive tender process and will make an announcement following the end of the standstill period."
