ASG opens in Scotland after Dublin
Enterprise software firm ASG Software Solutions, has announced an expansion to its international presence with the opening of a new office in Edinburgh. It is one of the largest privately owned software companies in the world, with a turnover of around $300m in 2007. It already has more than 90 offices around the world, and the new Edinburgh office is located at 10 Lochside Place, Edinburgh Park.
ASG operates in the Business Service Management space, which provides firms with a strategy and an approach for linking IT to the specific goals of their business. It also enables them to understand and predict how technology impacts the business, and the knock on effect of how business impacts the IT infrastructure, one of the fastest growing sectors in technology, it claims.
ASG EMEA marketing director, Tulin Pledger, says, “ASG's decision to further develop its presence in the Scottish market represents an important step in the company's mission to increase market share. The opening of the Edinburgh office follows just a few weeks after a new office was opened in Dublin.”
Edinburgh is the sixth largest financial services centre in Europe, and home to many large financial firms including The Royal Bank of Scotland, HBOS (owners of the Bank of Scotland), and Standard Life Insurance.
“Considering Scotland’s track record in the world of finance, ASG is well positioned to further develop relationships in this market sector. We already have at least 60% of the world’s largest banks as customers,” says Pledger. “Back in the 1980s when we saw an economic boom in the Silicon Glen (now high tech) corridor between Glasgow and Edinburgh, many large technology firms relocated to Scotland. Today we already have a great head start with a solid Scottish customer base. Our new office solidifies our presence here.”
Headquartered in Naples, Florida, USA, ASG is best known for a federated configuration management database, MetaCMDB, that is also the differentiating core of ASG's enterprise Business Service Management solution, the ASG's Business Service Platform. The data management capabilities of ASG's service platform it is claimed, accomplished through relationship mapping and metadata technologies, is suited to handle the complexity of modern enterprises and the turbulence of rapidly changing business environments.
ASG has appointed Dominic Colella to run the Scottish office. Colella has a portfolio of fomer employer companies which include Gartner; Compel; International Software; Alcatel; and Xerox.
