Belgium-based Artilium, the telecoms software developer centred around the Microsoft platform to that create ARTA Mobile Services Platform systems for mobile network operators, is planning to increase its R&D activities and create 30 new jobs at its operations in Dunfermline offices. The Artilium office in Dunfermline holds key intellectual property for its Tri-cell Intelligent Location System technology.

The new investment is  supported by Scottish Enterprise with a general R&D grant of £750,000 in conjunction with investment from Artilium. In its interim results to December 31 2007, Artilium recorded a wider loss of £3.3m  from £1.4m a year earlier. At the time it said it was continuing to invest heavily in R&D and the expansion of its development capacity with related quality-control systems and processes.

CEO and psychologist, Robert Marcus, joined Artilium in early 2007 after nearly a decade at Microsoft where he served most recently as a director on the company’s mergers and acquisitions team. Prior to joining Microsoft he was CEO of Seattle-based ConnectSoft; co-founder and COO of Paris-based PICIS, now a healthcare information systems leader: president of Integrated Medical Technologies, an emergency medical systems company he founded building the European division of American Dental Laser to $15m in less than three years, primarily on European sales.
