Interprise, as simple or as complicated as you want it to be

Amanda Lafferty demos Interprise

Amanda Lafferty put the Interprise Suite through its paces at an Edinburgh launch by Glasgow based Turnkey Computer Technology. Her phrase seems to sum it up. This accounting software suite, (which looks like giving SAGE a run for its money, has solved issues such as COGS, FIFO, and multicurrency) offers a pre-set company set-up in the provision of ERP/CRM/Accounting.

Being a ‘Smart client’ service oriented architecture, it allows the application to run on LAN or over the internet like a browser application.  Amazingly, it’s free for a single user license and priced at £1,500 for a three –user solution. It can also be provided as a hosted solution, subscribed to for a monthly fee.

Yes, it is Windows based, but take heart Mac users, Interprise runs on the emulator!! And maybe the Philippine development arm will look to Linux?

Interprise has an interesting history. Its US founder Garry Harrison, set out to provide a clean new start system that would overtake SAGE by combining ERP/CRM. He opted to move the  development to Makati City, Philippines, where the company was founded in 2004.

Turnkey Technology has an older pedigree, starting in 1980 when Dr Barry Wood, excited by microcomputer potential, left British Steel and set up a one-stop shop to provide PC hardware, networks, communications, software, support, training and consultancy.

Turnkey’s early focus was on Insolvency Practitioners System (IPS). It is now reputedly the UK market leader from small to multinational insolvency practitioners and used by over 5000 insolvency personnel in the UK and overseas.

IPS upgraded from DOS to Windows (IPSfW v2.7 released February 2008 ) and subsequently moved onto IPS-SQL in 2006 (v3 released this month). In 2006 Turnkey  also acquired Australian, Melbourne based agency, Core Technology Pty as its wholly owned subsidiary.

Accredited a Microsoft Gold Certified Partner for Networking Infrastructure and Microsoft Business Solutions in 2005, Turnkey first looked into the Interprise Suite  in 2007,  when the software was accredited by the Institute of Chartered Accountants in England & Wales as doing all essential tasks competently. Turnkey clearly liked what it saw and has now added the Suite to its portfolio offerings, and is already belieed to have two clients.

The clincher perhaps has also been the discrete acquisition in April of Interprise by US Taylor Corporation’s Services and Technology division. A $2bn turnover, Forbes private 200 company with more than 100 subsidiaries and 14,000 employees world-wide provides products and services to more than 3m small business and customers, and the majority of the Fortune 500.  It goes without saying that this sort of backing really helps convey confidence.
