Jolomo Awards
The  ‘Jolomo PSYBT Awards'  was launched in March this year to encourage more young people in North West Scotland and the Highlands and Islands to set up businesses in the arts, craft and creative industries,  thanks to a partnership between PSYBT and John Lowrie Morrison – Jolomo – one of Scotland’s best  contemporary artists.

Since the launch of the Arts & Crafts awards and thanks to a £10,000 from Jolomo, nine new businesses in the arts and craft sector have been supported by PSYBT with start-up finance and advice. The  young entrepreneurs from the North West of Scotland are competing to  win one of three PSYBT Jolomo Awards based around the following themes:  distance travelled/personal development;  commercial awareness/business skills; and innovation/creativity.

The three winners will receive a prize of £500 and all the finalists will have the chance to meet and get to know Jolomo at a celebration event and workshop session at the Kranenberg Gallery in Oban.

The six finalists, a mixed group of four women and two men are:
Jen Philp from Kyleakin on the Isle of Skye, a bead and jewellery designer;
Ross Angell, a wood craftsman from Argyll;
Claire Innes, a painter from Fort William;
Alison Macleod textile designer from the Isle of Lewis;
Nicola Kelsey, photographer of NK Photography from Oban,  furniture maker and
