A Greenock school in Scotland has moved to improve its science and IT education by providing an iPad for each of its 105 students, lead by livewire IT teacher, Fraser Speirs who conceived the idea.

IQE markets accelerate
IQE, the Cardiff headquartered, global supplier of wafer products and services to the semiconductor industry reports its interim results for the half year (1H) ended June 2010 showing a strong performance in all main markets with wireless up 52%, optoelectronics up 55% and electronics up 102%.

Global nuclear renaissance 2030
It's tilting at entrenched anti-nuclear sentiments - and one look at Google graphics illustrating the word nuclear says it all. But, UK scientists have researched and outlined a 20-year master plan for the global renaissance of nuclear energy that should not be dismissed out of hand. Balfour Beatty Engineering Services has awarded leading technology provider Onyx Group a contract to provide IT services to the UK Engineering Services Division. Headquartered in Hillington, near Glasgow, and with further offices across the UK, BBES selected Onyx Group to provide an outsourced IT Helpdesk service. Onyx will act as a first line response to BBES staff experiencing IT issues and provides expert transition to BBES’s own IT teams when calls are escalated up the chain.
