Cell analysis technology
Defined as being at “the intersection of physics, electrical engineering, computer science and biology,” Venneos GmbH a five man company in Stutgart is currently looking for employees. A spin-off from Max Planck Society the company is developing a silicon chip based imaging system for biological cell analysys and builds on an innovative measurement approach allowing detection of cellular changes which remain invisible with other technologies.
Dundee's 'creative thinkers'
University of Dundee students are highly commended and listed among `leading creative thinkers’ in the annual Undergraduate Awards, with eight students representing various disciplines across the University, being shortlisted for the awards. The winners are announced in November the UA Global Summit in Dublin.

A robot has the scourge of the Great Barrier Reef in its sights. as Queensland University of Technology roboticists develop the world's first robot designed to seek out and control the Great Barrier Reef's COTS (crown-of-thorns starfish), and responsible for an estimated 40 per cent of the reef's total decline in coral cover. Roboticists now want to scale up manufacturing and deployment of COTSbot, but need funding partners to do so.
STEM challenge: drone training
Designed by airline pilots and RPAS operators, UAVAir have produced a CAA approved course that can be completed in a mere three 3 days. And the organisation offers a wonderful challenge for the aspiring, by being an all male club at present!

Internet of Things Scotland 2015
The vision of an Internet of Things (IoT) predicts a world which redefines the notion of connectivity; a transition to a vast, all-encompassing web of interconnected devices which uses data to measure, calculate, evaluate and learn. AngelLab led the investment through it’s Venture Partner, Andrew Weisz, who will also join the GeckoLabs board, additional funding provided by the London Co-Investment Fund.

Awesome: IBM and ARM
IBM is to expand its IoT platform – IBM IoT Foundation - through an integration with ARM providing out-of-the-box connectivity with ARM mbed-enabled devices to analytics services. This fusion will allow huge quantities of data from devices such as industrial appliances, weather sensors and wearable monitoring devices to be gathered, analyzed and acted upon.
